Old Mulgrave Castle Family Walk Near Whitby

IMPORTANT: Mulgrave woods is a working woodland and is only open to the public on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays. and is closed for all of May.

Distance: 5km 3.1 miles

Elevation: 65m. Long steady walk through wide well surfaced tracks. Steps and more challenging paths on the approach to the old castle.

Kids will love: Discovering a hidden ancient castle hidden deep in the woods, collecting sticks, playing hide and seek in the old castle. Nice flat grass area within castle for a picnic.

Pushchairs? Most of the way yes, maybe carry for the castle bit.

Parking: Pay-and-display car park – East Row YO21 3SY

Costs: 4 hours £4.40, 6 hours £5 all day £7

Dogs: Yes dogs are allowed.
