Family Highlights

Harry Potter fans might like to visit Goathland station which doubled as “Hogsmeade”, the train station for Hogwarts in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone film.

Parents and kids can take a scenic ride through the moorland or all the way to Whitby, combining the train with a trip to the coast.

You can take a ride on the trains along the route. A popular family option is to take the train between Grosmont and Goathland and walk back along “The Rail Trail”, a 5.5km (3.4miles) walk.

Pickering station houses a small interactive exhibition on the far side of the tracks.

One of the best stations to visit is Grosmont where you can visit the engine sheds.

Grosmont, Pickering and Goathland stations have gift shops.

Rainy Day Highlights
